Matthew David Bennett, a native of Richmond, Ca, passed away unexpectedly August 11, 2016, in Vallejo, at the age of 47.
Matthew was a beloved son, brother and uncle and he loved his family, friends, heavy metal music, and sitting by the water.
He is survived by parents, Charles Robert and Carolyn Bennett; brother, Charles Robert Bennett Jr.and his wife Maria; sister, Tracy Travis and her husband Tom; nephews Dawson, Daley (Travis) , Brody and Adam (Bennett); and dear friend Tracy Rae and family.

Family and friends of Matthew Bennett will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 1 at Albany Memorial Park, Portland and Carmel Avenues in Albany, from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Please join us, all are welcome.

I remember years ago....Matt was my first date ever, he came to my door we went to the movies....It was the worst date ever! We both agreed on that. A few months ago we talked about it laughing at the whole thing. It may have been a terrible date, but we have been friends ever since, and I can look back on it with fondness . Going to miss his quirky sense of humor and his presence. I am so sorry for your loss., for all of our loss.

Sitting behind the bowling alley with Kevin and Matthew, kicking back in the Maverick, and laughing uncontrollably at the word "shoehorn". Some of my funniest evenings.. If I was with Matthew, I was laughing... Those were good times...

Matthew is our nephew. We have enjoyed many many wonderful family tiimes with him. We love him and will miss him very much. Uncle Carl and Aunt Mary Jane

Although my cousin, Matty was always like another older brother making fun of me, always joking, calling me names I hated, etc. Wouldn't have had it any other way. You are loved and missed very much! - "Weazy"

Matty David. Impish grin and sparkling eyes. Always the one to run out and help us unload the car. Always the one to drive us nuts with your teasing and picking on everyone. God we're going to miss that! I love you Matty and I hope you're at peace and sitting by a beautiful lake at sunset. Your memory will always bring us a smile and a silly story or two. We're going to miss you so much.

I didn't know Matthew very well, but I do know how much his family loved and cherished him, and how much he meant to them. Peace to you, Matthew, and to your loved ones. You will always be in their hearts. Pat

So sorry to see this! Even though we lost touch, I still have fond memories of Matt. Went to a few heavy metal shows. RIP my friend :cry:

Arguing hockey with Matt was one of the things I looked forward to at all the family things. The reason I always wore my kings jersey. Wish the sharks had won it this year.

I don't think I would have survived high school without Matthew's almost constant companionship. And the hours of fun we had playing music with Paul, or exploring the local creek together, they were the highlights of a bitter time with me. Thank you, Matthew, and rock on!
